Is Flying Stars only used for proper placement of Water & Mountain rooms and then 8 Mansions takes over?
Example 1: If you have a 3 mountain star in a West bedroom do you give it fire to weaken the 3 star or do you give it metal since the West is a metal element.
Example 2: If you have a 1 Water star in the NE, do you give it metal & water to strengthen it, or do you give it earth since the NE is the earth element? |

Namaste,
Excellent questions, here are my two cents worth,
First - lets take the mountain star of #3 wood in the west, it depends on which kua is using this sector, is #3 harmful to the person or helpful?
In either case #3 is weak, for those whom #3 is harmful then i'd not want to strengthen the #3.
The perfect remedy to strengthen the #3 is water, which is a bridge between metal and wood, else find a kua 1 to help out, else watch out for #1 stars yearly (preferred) or Monthly, which would help by virtue of time,
However the #3 star combines with the #7 (West) to form a combo of 10, traditionally you need to keep the mountain star quiet, which a combo 10 does not do, keeping the room quiet, or yin is another spin you can take,
In your second example, you are correct giving metal is preferred sine that too will act as a bridge between earth and water, and a metal would form a 1 -6 - 8 combo (big smile)
if it is your house, then Kua 1's hold the key to balance,
with regards,
